Age Disclaimer: According to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), in Colorado, you must be at least 18 years old to perform any roofing work, as it is considered a hazardous occupation for minors under that age.

  • Reason for restriction: Roofing is considered a hazardous occupation for minors under 18
  • Limited exceptions: May exist for supervised apprenticeship or student-learner programs with specific approval
  • 16 & 17 Year Olds: In Colorado, a 16-year-old working in a construction office can perform tasks like data entry, filing, answering phones, scheduling appointments, copying documents, basic project management assistance, and other administrative duties that do not involve physically working on a construction site, as long as they are not considered "hazardous" under state child labor laws; always check with the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment for the most up-to-date information.
